Auntie Tutu Glo, also known as Glo Carlson, considers herself an untrained Salvaged Material Artist. Glo comes from a family of artists of all mediums. Upon moving backto Oʻahu 20 years ago, it was here, her birthplace, where she found her ‘niche’ and style. Materials are found at demolition sites, dumpsters, curbside treasures; and recently, a Yamaha Piano keyboard left out for disposal. All finished pieces are original in paint colors and defects, and hardware is left in place and used for part of the design. Several coats of non-toxic sealant complete each piece with a hand-written notation on the backside.
